Egypt's antiquities ministry insisted on Thursday that Cleopatra had
"white skin and Hellenistic characteristics" in an ongoing row over a
Netflix drama-documentary that depicts the famed beauty of antiquity as
black. "Queen Cleopatra", produced by Jada Pinkett Smith and starring
Adele
James, is due for release on the streaming platform on May 10. But even
before its release, "Queen Cleopatra" has already caused a storm of
controversy in the North African nation. What have the show's creators
said about Cleopatra? "As Egypt's last pharaoh, Cleopatra fights to
protect her throne,
family and legacy in this docudrama featuring reenactments and expert
interviews," the Netflix site says of its upcoming production.
In an article written for Variety; director Tina Gharavi said it was a
"political choice" to cast Adele James. "Why shouldn’t Cleopatra be a
melanated sister? And why do some people
need Cleopatra to be white? Her proximity to whiteness seems to give
her value, and for some Egyptians it seems to really matter." She said part of the reason online hate from Egyptians has been
directed to her is because she has "asked Egyptians to see themselves
as Africans, and they are furious at me for that."
Ms James, a British actor who is of mixed race, told critics: "If you
don't like the casting, don't watch the show," in a Twitter post
featuring screengrabs of abusive comments that included racist slurs.
Netflix's companion website Tudum reported in February that the choice
to cast Ms James as Cleopatra was "a nod to the centuries-long
conversation about the ruler's race". Jada Pinkett Smith, who is
executive producer and narrator, was
meanwhile quoted as saying: "We don't often get to see or hear stories
about black queens, and that was really important for me, as well as
for my daughter, and just for my community to be able to know those
stories because there are tons of them!"
But when the trailer was released last week many Egyptians condemned
the depiction of Cleopatra. Why are Egyptians arguing over Cleopatra's
skin colour? An online petition accusing the production of rewriting
history has already garnered more than 40,000 signatures. And in a
country where calls for Netflix to be banned for content
deemed offensive to Egypt or "its family values" aren't entirely new,
MP Saboura al-Sayyed has again urged parliament to ban the platform.
On Thursday, the country's antiquities ministry weighed into the
dispute, publishing a lengthy statement that included statements from
experts who it said all agree that Cleopatra had "white skin and
Hellenistic characteristics". "Bas reliefs and statues of Queen Cleopatra are the best proof," the
statement said, embellishing the text with illustrations showing
Cleopatra with European traits.
For Mostafa Waziri, head of the Supreme Council of Antiquities,
depicting the famous queen as black is nothing less than "a
falsification of Egyptian history". He insists there is nothing racist
in this view, which he says is
motivated by "defending the history of Queen Cleopatra, an important
part of the history of Egypt in antiquity". Commentators in Egypt often
decry campaigns among mostly African-American groups claiming the
origins of Egyptian civilisation.

minister,
told the al-Masry al-Youm newspaper: "This is completely fake.
Cleopatra was Greek, meaning that she was light-skinned, not black."
Fact: (Greeks were Black, and later due to admixture with incoming
Asian Albinos, some were Mulattoes). So he is "Partially" right here -
"Some WERE Light-Skinned". But Alexander-the-Great and his Ptolemy
Generals were Macedonian NOT Greek.

The early Slavs were a diverse group of tribal societies who lived during the Migration Period

Slavs in the Kievan Rus', South Slavs in the Bulgarian Empire, the
Principality of Serbia, the Duchy of Croatia and the Banate of Bosnia,

principality in history was Carantania, established in the 7th century

The early Slavs were known to the Roman writers of the 1st and 2nd
centuries AD under the name of Veneti. Authors such as Pliny the Elder,
Tacitus and Ptolemy described the Veneti as inhabiting the lands east
of the Vistula river and along the Venedic Bay (Gdańsk Bay). Later,
having split into three groups during the migration period, the early
Slavs were known to the Byzantine writers as Veneti, Antes and
Sclaveni. The 6th century historian Jordanes referred to the Slavs
(Sclaveni) in his 551 work Getica, noting that "although they derive
from one nation, now they are known under three names, the Veneti,
Antes and Sclaveni"
The Migration Period
The Migration Period, also known as the Barbarian Invasions, was a
period in European history marked by large-scale migrations that saw
the fall of the Western Roman Empire and subsequent settlement of its
former territories by various tribes, and the establishment of the
post-Roman kingdoms. The term refers to the important role played by
the migration, invasion, and settlement of various tribes, notably the
Franks, Goths, Alemanni, Alans, Huns, early Slavs, Pannonian Avars,
Magyars, and Bulgars within or into the former Western Empire and
Eastern Europe. The period is traditionally taken to have begun in AD
375 (possibly as early as 300) and ended in 568.

climate and weaker Sunshine. They mated with each other: but when Albinos mate with Albinos, they
can ONLY make other Albinos - NOT Mulattoes; You need a BLACK partner
to make Mulattoes. THUS WAS THE WHITE RACE BORN.
These Central Asian Albinos started
to leave north Asia at about 1,500 B.C. when they invaded India. Albino
historians call these people Aryans, but they were not, Aryan was the
title for noble Persians. The Central Asian Albinos were in three major
tribes: the Germanics, the Slavs, and the last to enter the West, the
TURKS. We at Realhistoryww calculate that the first Asian Albinos
entered Europe at about 1,200 B.C.

part, I agree with those who think that the tribes of Germany are free
from all taint of intermarriages with foreign nations, and that they
appear as a distinct, unmixed race, like none but themselves. Hence, too, the same physical peculiarities throughout so vast a population. All have fierce blue eyes, red hair, huge frames, fit only for a sudden exertion.

Abstract
During an
excavation headed by the German Institute for Archaeology, Cairo, at
the tombs of the nobles in Thebes-West, Upper Egypt, three types of
tissues from different mummies were sampled to compare 13 well known
rehydration methods for mummified tissue with three newly developed
methods.
Furthermore, three fixatives were tested with each of
the rehydration fluids. Meniscus (fibrocartilage), skin, and a placenta
were used for this study. The rehydration and fixation procedures were
uniform for all methods. The stains used were standard hematoxylin and
eosin, elastica van Gieson, periodic acid-Schiff, and Grocott, and five
commercially obtained immunohistochemical stains including
pancytokeratin, vimentin, alpha-smooth-muscle-actin, basement membrane
collagen type IV, and S-100 protein. The sections were examined by
transmitted light microscopy. Our study showed that preservation of the
tissue is dependent on the quality and effectiveness of the combination
of the rehydration and fixation solutions, and that the quality of the
histological and histochemical stains is dependent on the tissue
quality. In addition, preservation of the antigens in the tissues is
dependent on tissue quality, and fungal permeation had no influence on
the tissue. Finally, the results are tissue specific. For placenta the
best solution combination was Sandison and solution III (both fixed
with formaldehyde) while results for skin were best with Ruffer I
(using formaldehyde and Schaffer as fixatives), Grupe et al. (using
formaldehyde as a fixative) and solution III (in combination with
formaldehyde and Bouin fixatives). Ruffer II (using formaldehyde as a
fixative) and solution III (in combination with Schaffer fixative) gave
the best results for fibrocartilage.
Results
We devised a grading system to compare and to rate each procedure for
its degree of tissue con- servation, histological and histochemical
staining properties, the specificity of immunohistochemical staining
methods, and the degree of fungal pene- tration into the tissue.
Skin
Skin sections showed particularly good tissue preservation, although
cellular outlines were never distinct. Although much of the epidermis
had already separated from the dermis, the remaining epidermis often
was preserved well (Fig. 1). The basal epithelial cells were packed with melanin as expected for specimens of Negroid origin.
In the dermis, the hair follicles, hair, and sebaceous and sweat glands
were readily apparent (Fig. 2). Blood vessels, but no red blood cells,
and small peripheral nerves were identified unambiguously (Fig. 3). The
subcutaneous layer showed loose connective tissue fibers attached to
the dermis, and fat cell remnants were observed. To evaluate the
influence of postmortum tissue decay by micro-organisms, the samples
were tested for the presence of fungi using silver staining. Fungi were
observed in some samples and were widespread in both epidermis and
dermis. The molecular preservation of the antigen determinants, due to
tissue preser- vation, determines the accuracy of the immunohis-
tological stains. Depending on the rehydration or fixation procedure,
specific immunohisto- chemical detections of single antigens were

Mamluk, slave soldier, a member of one of the armies of slaves
established during the Abbasid era that later won political control of
several Muslim states. Under the Ayyubid sultanate, Mamluk generals
used their power to establish a dynasty that ruled Egypt and Syria from
1250 to 1517. The name is derived from an Arabic word for slave.
The use of Mamluks as a major component of Muslim armies became a
distinct feature of Islamic civilization as early as the 9th century
CE. The practice was begun in Baghdad by the ʿAbbasid caliph
al-Muʿtaṣim (833–842), and it soon spread throughout the Muslim world.
Moreover, the political result was almost invariably the same: the
slaves exploited the military power vested in them to seize control
over the legitimate political authorities, often only briefly but
sometimes for astonishingly long periods of time. Thus, soon after
al-Muʿtaṣim’s reign the caliphate itself fell victim to the Turkish
Mamluk generals, who were able to depose or murder caliphs almost with
impunity. Although the caliphate was maintained as a symbol of
legitimate authority, the actual power was wielded by the Mamluk
generals; and by the 13th century, Mamluks had succeeded in
establishing dynasties of their own, both in Egypt and in India, in
which the sultans were necessarily men of slave origin or the heirs of
such men.
Originally the Mamluks were slaves of Turkic origins from the Eurasian
Steppe, but the institution of military slavery spread to include
Circassians, Abkhazians, Georgians, Armenians, Russians, and
Hungarians, as well as peoples from the Balkans such as Albanians,
Greeks, and South Slavs.

Who was Cleopatra? Cleopatra was born in the Egyptian city of
Alexandria in 69 BC and
became the last queen of a Greek-speaking dynasty founded by Alexander
the Great's Macedonian general Ptolemy on the banks of the Nile. She
succeeded her father Ptolemy XII in 51 BC and ruled until her death in
30 BC. Afterwards, Egypt fell under Roman domination. The identity of
Cleopatra's mother is not known, and historians say it
is possible that she, or any other female ancestor, was an indigenous
Egyptian or from elsewhere in Africa. While legend hails the queen as a
great beauty, her precise appearance, including the colour of her skin,
is still debated. A BBC documentary in 2009 claimed that Cleopatra had African blood, an assertion that passed without incident.
Clearly the Turk Egyptians realized that the British - who ruled Egypt
for a time - knew better, so they didn't bother trying to lie their way
out of their subterfuge.
Question: Do we know what
Cleopatra really looked like? Scholars have searched for the visage
behind the legend, but it's often impossible to verify a historical
figure's image. Cleopatra's body has never been discovered. Most
surviving paintings and sculptures of her are later inventions, more
telling of their own times than of the subject herself. What about
these coins? Albinos make fake everything.
But one thing all experts can agree on - Cleopatra was NO Beauty!
